Watching, Waiting
We were on a journey today in Rome, EXPECTING to be moved by grandeur, power, and history. We were.
I wonder: Why don’t we do that more? What do I HOPE for, deeply? What do I expect will come?
Reflecting on these things, I shot photos of fellow travelers in Rome today … as THEY watched. As they waited.
I wonder what they were expecting. (Clicking on any photo launches a larger gallery.)
Love this post. The faces are stunning…a glimps of glory? Certainly reflections of the image of God. It must be moving to tred where Peter trod. All the expectancy and waiting described in your post and shown in the the accompanying photos makes me think of Advent. “Come thou long expected Jesus, born to set thy people free; from our fears and sins release us, let us find our rest in thee. Isreal’s strength and consolation, hope of all the earth thou art: dear desire of every nation, joy of every longing heart. Born thy people to deliver, born a child and yet a king, born to reign in us forever, now thy gracious kingdom bring. By thine own eternal Spirit rule in all our hearts alone, by thine all sufficient merit raise us to thy glorious throne.” (Charles Wesley)
