Hosannah in the Highest
Hosannah is one our new friends that we greatly admire (true story). On the day we met, one of the first things we learned about her is that she killed a snake while out on her morning run, which made me want to sign up immediately to be on her team. Despite being lethal to snakes, to people she is kind, compassionate, and wise.
Hosannah, and the organization she works for, love (and take great risks for) persecuted people in the face of tremendous danger. Their motto is:
“Love each other. Unite and work for freedom, justice and peace. Forgive and don’t hate each other. Pray with faith, act with courage, never surrender.”
How fitting, then, to be able to spend Palm Sunday worshipping with this group and a congregation of persecuted ethnic minorities in a small village on the Thai-Burma border, where we celebrated acts of great Love in the face of danger. This is one of those places in the world where Jesus’ donkey ride feels most tangible to me.
Hosannah!
Happy Palm Sunday!
Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!
May your donkey rides lead you all down the road of both celebration of, and deeper commitment to, God’s Kingdom work in this land. Eager to see you when you return to Chiang Mai, and to hear your stories.
