E: THE GLACIER — huge, throwing rocks, black color of dirt on the side, different color rocks, “Vatnajoukel,” surprising cold breeze, walking up the side of the glacier, making our rock tower, cold water, quick sand

H: BEAR SAVE PUFFIN — inside the tent, laughter, Sven’s debut, sleeping bags, family time

W: RESTLESS WIND AT LAST CAMPSITE — ferocious, running to the bathroom and seeing it, sound of flapping tent pieces, kept going when we left, rain

FRANCE:

W: HAVING DELICIOUS BAGUETTES IN THE MORNING (cro bique) — yummy, warm, hard as a brickbat, butter on the baguettes, burre, petit brie, nutella

H: FIGHTER JETS OVER THE CRO BIQUE HOUSE — loud, amazing, frightening, huge airplane, run outside to the patio to look up, tanning in boxers sometimes, sky was bright

W: GETTING TO SEE OLYMPIC VENUES FROM OUR HOUSE — orbit, stadium, different colors, BMX stadium, aquatic center, veldrome, driving by later, the flags, fireworks, opening ceremonies

E: AMERICAN EMBASSY — on walk with Howards, Jonathan showing us around, guards, blocked off sidewalk, lots of guards, buckeyes on ground, yellow barrier, seeing ambassador residence

W: LAUGHING AT PEEING BOY — funny, corkscrew, souvenirs, lots of people, outfits for the boy, hockey man, smaller than expected, human statue, big black fence, corner statue

H: WAFFLES AND FRITTES WITH HOWARDS — butter and sugar, warm, Jean Gaston, yummmmm, picture in front of stand, in the morning, during market, hot, stuck with a wooden pick, hot waffle iron
