Art of Language Lesson 01 REVIEW

Thoughts about future: Latin words for art or language … look up words we don’t know.

Memory: Boys, give me a three-word summary of last night’s closing ceremony. W: “The Closing Ceremony.”

Pick one thing to write about: the canonball shot.

Choosing better language. Instead of “lasted three hours,” used “three-hour extravaganza.” Instead of “ended last night,” used “brought curtain down.”

All adding up to “madcap mashup.”

Skipped NYT #3.

Wrote down “good” sentence or phrase. WHAT DO WITH THIS?

Final question: What are we learning about the art of language?

——

Quotes:

E: “Big party, decorated in newspaper.”

H: “Party Last Night in London.”

W: “Olympics Come to Close, Latte last night, closing ceremonies took place in London.”

W: “paraded in to sections of the Union Jack”
